Uele appointed as Fetu Samoa coach for one-off 2020 match.

Ross Uele has been confirmed as coach of the Samoa women’s squad, his appointment comes due to the unavailability of Head Coach Glenn Brailey from Cronulla, Australia. Uele understands the task at hand and opportunity it presents women in the game to play a quality team like the Kiwi Ferns.

Uele, 55, current Akarana women provincial coach with experience at all levels has a wealth of football knowledge with both his sons coming through the Auckland representative system and eldest Braden Hamlin-Uele a regular first grader at Cronulla Sharks. Ross will have stalwart senior coach Frank Fuimaono in camp and services of former Warriors NRLW manager Liz Ah-Kuoi to look after day-to-day management of the team.

Samoa will be limited to NZ based players due to Covid-19 restrictions, Key players from last year’s test fixture recently became mothers and their unavailability offers a chance for others to secure a Samoan representative jersey. This event will further develop international properties in the women’s space in particular Pasifika engagement across the growth of Rugby League.
