RUGBY LEAGUE SAMOA OFFICIALS ACCREDITED
Release;
Members of Rugby League Samoa Executive (Exco) together with Course Provider from Australia held the ACCREDITATION CEREMONY on Monday night at Scalini Restaurant to award the Asia Pacific Confederation”LEVEL 1 Referees Accreditation” on behalf of Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) to two local Referees namely Folau Iosua and Lui Suafoa Leautuli.
The Course was held in Apia last week with practical assessment of the two recipients during the Toa Gas Rugby League 9s second leg at Satupaitea last week. Barry Rutle (Referees Trainer) assessed Iosua and Leautulis’
performance during the tournament and he concluded that the two have definitely met the criterias in order to be accredited. Peter Corcoran (Order of Australia & Director of Education & Training International
Consultancy) congratule Iosua and Leautuli on a wonderful achievement as based on three core area. (1) Fitness – able to run on the field for game duration (2) Technical – able to interpret the rule book and maintain composure an d firm decision making (3) Mental – ability to prolong as these were the only two referees whom handled the whole tournament on what was believed to be a very hot day.
The Education and Training is part of the Asia Pacific Rugby League Confederation (APRLC) development to upskill officials both coaches and referees in order to grow the game and ensure the game is well controlled by all parties involved (including players, spectators, coaches and league community). The hope is for the accredited trainers to cascade that knowledge to other team officials.
